Autovio closes financing round

The Berlin-based start-up has raised over three million euros and wants to digitize the driving school industry.

Driving school start-up Autovio has successfully completed a financing round and raised over three million euros. According to the company, the backers include existing shareholders as well as new investors such as Cologne-based venture capitalist Coparion, which focuses on technology companies. Autovio plans to use the money to further expand its two apps, hire new customer support staff and attract more partners in Germany.

The Berlin-based start-up aims to digitize the driving school industry, targeting both learner drivers and driving instructors. Learners can book and pay for driving lessons or study for the theory test via an app. Driving instructors can handle administrative tasks via an app that, for example, generates automatic invoices for them. The company, which was launched in September 2021, also supports driving instructors in setting up new businesses.

"Autovio, as an innovative driving school service, is dedicated to the mission of digitizing the entire driving school industry to help driving schools work more efficiently and create better learning environments," says Tom Kedor, who co-founded the startup with Carsten Eckmiller, Philipp Goebel and Amir Hadi, describing the goal of the offering.

Toba Spiegel, senior investment manager at Coparion, praises the scalability of Autovio, which relies on a partner model. "Ultimately, we see Autovio's driving school services as just the beginning of a large platform around early mobility."
