The Hamburg-based clean tech company 1KOMMA5° has closed a funding round totaling 70 million euros. The pre-funding valuation has risen to $1.35 billion, which is 35 percent higher than the level in July 2025. The round is led by b2venture, with Marunouchi Innovation Partners joining as a new investor. In total, 1KOMMA5° plans to invest more than 100 million euros in its energy platform, Heartbeat AI, over the coming year. The previously planned initial public offering (IPO) on the U.S. technology exchange Nasdaq has been postponed for the time being.

The Hamburg-based company 1KOMMA5° is continuing its growth trajectory with a new funding round. The 70 million euros will primarily be used to further develop its proprietary energy intelligence platform, Heartbeat AI. This capital will be supplemented by an additional 35 million euros that the company plans to invest from its own funds.

This brings the total planned investment in the software platform for 2027 to more than 100 million euros. According to the company, this represents a threefold increase over previous investments in this area.

Valuation Rises by 35 Percent in 15 Months

The funding round closed with a pre-money valuation of $1.35 billion. Compared to the last funding round in July 2025, this represents a 35 percent increase.

The pre-money valuation refers to the company’s value before the infusion of new capital. It should therefore not be equated with the valuation after the financing is completed.

The lead investor is b2venture. Marunouchi Innovation Partners (MIP), a new Japanese investor specializing in growth companies in the energy, artificial intelligence, and flexibility sectors, is also participating.

Existing shareholders are also investing again. These include CalSTRS, eCapital, G2 Venture Partners, and Eurazeo, among others.

According to CFO Micha Grüber, the funding round was oversubscribed. It was also the company’s first round of fundraising specifically focused on its own energy AI solutions.

Heartbeat AI is set to become the key growth driver

Heartbeat AI is at the center of the investment strategy. The software connects decentralized energy systems and manages their interaction.

These include photovoltaic systems, battery storage, heat pumps, wall boxes, and air conditioning systems. The goal is to coordinate power generation, storage, and consumption as efficiently as possible.

For example, the platform can adjust the operation of electrical appliances to take advantage of low electricity prices or use available storage capacity for electricity trading.

This is intended to help households reduce their energy costs while simultaneously contributing to the stabilization of the power grid.

According to 1KOMMA5°, Heartbeat AI now aggregates more than one gigawatt of controllable flexibility capacity across five markets.

The company is thus positioning its platform as a virtual power plant for private households. Multiple decentralized energy systems are interconnected via software and can collectively respond to changes in electricity supply and demand.

Hardware Business Expected to Remain Profitable

In parallel with the expansion of its software business, 1KOMMA5° highlights the financial performance of its existing core business.

According to the company, the hardware business is profitable at the EBITDA level and generates positive cash flow.

For the full year 2026, the company expects organic revenue growth of 35 to 40 percent compared to the previous year.

Management also sees rising demand in the German market. In September 2026, new customer orders were nearly 50 percent higher than in the same month of the previous year, according to the company.

1KOMMA5° does not provide specific details on expected annual revenue or absolute earnings in its current press release.

The company employs approximately 3,000 people worldwide and, according to its own statements, operates in seven markets.

Financing Facility of Up to 1.5 Billion Euros

In addition to the equity financing round, 1KOMMA5° has created additional financing options for its customers in recent months.

To this end, financing facilities of up to 1.5 billion euros have been agreed upon with banks. These are intended, in particular, to facilitate projects in the private and public sectors.

These financing facilities are distinct from the new equity round. They are neither additional equity raised nor funds that have already been fully disbursed.

According to the company, the corresponding financing arrangements do not weigh on its own balance sheet. 1KOMMA5° therefore continues to describe itself as debt-free.

This structure is intended to enable the company to finance larger customer projects without having to directly commit its own balance sheet to that extent.

Nasdaq IPO Temporarily Postponed

While 1KOMMA5° is increasing its investments in Heartbeat AI, a previously planned initial public offering (IPO) on the U.S. technology exchange Nasdaq has been put on hold for the time being.

It is currently unknown when—or if—the Hamburg-based company will make a new attempt at an IPO.

The current funding round shows that 1KOMMA5° is initially driving its further expansion with private capital and its own funds.

It is not clear from this whether the IPO has been permanently abandoned or will be put back on the agenda at a later date.

More than 100 million euros for the next phase of development

With the planned investments for 2027, 1KOMMA5° is further shifting its strategic focus toward software and intelligent energy management.

In doing so, the company is combining two business areas: the sale and installation of decentralized energy technology and the digital control of the connected systems.

For CEO and co-founder Philipp Schröder, Heartbeat AI is intended to become a comprehensive operating system for decentralized energy systems in the long term.

The new funding gives 1KOMMA5° additional leeway to further develop the platform technologically and establish it in additional markets.

A key factor will be how the increasing software investments impact operating income and whether the platform can further expand its role as a growth driver. With a higher valuation, fresh equity, and an investment plan totaling more than 100 million euros, 1KOMMA5° is focusing on growth outside the stock market for the time being.
