Berlin is looking for sustainable start-ups

The state plans to provide 17 million euros for the "Berlin Startup Scholarship".
Berlin is once again awarding the "Berlin Startup Scholarship". The state intends to provide a total of 17 million euros for the funding pot. Start-ups that are close to market maturity with their product can apply.
The focus of the funding is on sustainability. The Senate cites the topics of smart city, circular economy, social economy, women in tech, energy efficiency and mobility as examples.
The application deadline is May 31, 2021, and founders will receive funding of 2,000 euros per person per month for six to twelve months. The Berlin Senate is awarding a total of 450 grants. The funded start-ups can use technical laboratories and rooms at the universities to develop and complete their products. The funding period begins on 1 October 2021 and the program runs until mid-2023.
"The overwhelming response to the calls that have been made so far shows the potential and importance of the start-up economy for Berlin," says Senator for Economic Affairs Ramona Pop (The Greens). "I am particularly pleased that almost 40 percent of the predominantly technology-oriented start-ups are now female founders."
