Bertelsmann Investments invests EUR 10 million in Patient21

Bertelsmann Investments has invested €10 million in Patient21's €100 million financing round. Patient21 is the fastest growing digital health start-up in Europe.

Patient21 is a company that has a software platform that covers the entire patient journey. By targeting digitalization in treatment, it simplifies processes for patients and reduces the administrative burden for medical staff. With over 50 outpatient clinics across Germany, Patient21 manages more than 300,000 patient visits annually.

They bring their learnings from the tech world to healthcare in a very compelling way, creating a compelling proposition for patients and doctors.

Bertelsmann Investments participated in a financing round of Patient21 together with other investors such as Pitango, Target Global and Artian. A total of €100 million was invested in this round, with Bertelsmann contributing €10 million. Back in 2022, we reported on a successful round totaling $142 million from the startup.

Patient21 was founded in 2019 by entrepreneurs Christopher Muhr, Nicolas Hantzsch and Dr. Sebastian Duong. The digital health technology company is headquartered in Berlin and develops its own software platform. The founders already bring experience from building and managing well-known companies such as Groupon and Auto1. Patient21 is backed by European and Israeli venture capitalists as well as various angel investors.
