Cellbricks wins "The Spark" digital prize

The company has developed a 3D printing process for tissue and organs.
The Berlin start-up Cellbrick has won the German digital prize "The Spark". Management consultants McKinsey & Company and Handelsblatt have awarded the prize for the seventh time in a row. This year, the prize was awarded to companies that want to transform the healthcare and medical sector with technological innovations.
The start-up Cellbricks, founded by Lutz Kloke, took first place. The company aims to solve the problem of organ shortages with 3D printing. Using a combination of human and artificial tissue, Cellbrick initially wants to produce breast implants and soon also organs. In second place is the start-up Caresyntax, a platform for surgical data that aims to make operations more intelligent. Third place went to Lindera. The start-up offers movement analysis via an app. The aim is to calculate the risk of falls for senior citizens, for example.
"High-tech can fundamentally revolutionize the healthcare and medical industry and improve medical performance for our benefit," says Fabian Billing, Head of Germany at McKinsey & Company. "We all need to work together to make our tech revolutionaries successful in the international ecosystem."
