Ukraine orders 105 drones from Quantum-Systems

The Munich-based start-up manufactures reconnaissance drones. They are to provide video footage to Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines.

Ukraine orders 105 drones from Munich-based startup Quantum-Systems. The company made the announcement at the Handelsblatt-Security and Defense" conference. According to the statement, the order is worth around 20 million euros. The German government is co-financing the delivery. The agreement also includes the start-up, founded in 2015, training the Ukrainian armed forces and providing technical support on site.

Quantum-Systems is to supply Vector reconnaissance drones that will support Ukrainian forces on the front lines with situational awareness and video footage of Russian artillery and their troop movements. The drones also assess battle damage and protect convoys.

Quantum-Systems supplied the Ukrainian Armed Forces with 33 reconnaissance drones back in August 2022. Since then, the startup has revised the drone, and it can now fly in areas with disrupted GPS thanks to a new software update. At the time, the German government also supported the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense with funds from its Upgrading Initiative, through which it provided two billion euros in military assistance to Ukraine last year.

2021 year, Quantum-Systems completed two rounds of funding. In June, the company received 30 million euros, including from Thiel Capital; in October, it received 17.5 million euros.
