RWTH Aachen students record most exits

Graduates of the university were involved in more exits than those of any other university. This puts Aachen ahead of WHU.

RWTH Aachen University is not only the "best university for start-ups", it is also the university whose graduates are responsible for the most exits. This is the conclusion reached by the communications agency Tonka in its "Exit Monitor 2021".

Tonka counted a total of 155 exits in 2021, in which 313 founders were involved. 5.4 percent of these young entrepreneurs had previously attended RWTH. Second place was taken by the Technical University of Munich (4.5 percent), with Otto Beisheim School of Management (3.2 percent), also known as the Private University of Management and Law (WHU), in third place. WHU from Rhineland-Palatinate had led the ranking for the past three years, but has now had to relinquish its top position.

Tonka also analyzed the subjects and degrees of the founders. The most suitable degree course for an exit - at least that is the impression based on the study - is Business Administration, with 13 percent of the 313 people surveyed having this degree. This is followed by Computer Science (five percent), Economics (4.6 percent) and Business Administration (3.8 percent). So while the technical universities have made up ground, economists continue to dominate among the subjects.
