Christian Seifert founds streaming platform

The former head of the German Football League is founding a streaming service with a focus on sports. Axel Springer holds a majority stake in the company.
The ex-managing director of the German Football League (DFL), Christian Seifert, is founding a streaming platform for league competitions and individual sporting events. Seifert has a strong partner at his side with the investment from media group Axel Springer.
The start-up's goal is to create "a new media home" for millions of German sports fans who are also interested in sports outside of soccer. To this end, the audiovisual rights of attractive leagues and sporting events are to be bundled into a single media offering. In the long term, this should increase the perception and appreciation of sports such as handball, basketball and ice hockey.
The platform is scheduled to launch in the fall of 2023. It is not yet known what the streaming service will be called. Although Axel Springer has taken a majority stake, Seifert still holds a significant share and acts as managing partner. A CEO and COO are to be added later.
