The Rhineland is popular with scale-ups

Scale-ups rate the Rhineland as a good location, but would like more financial support. A major challenge is the recruitment of personnel.

Positive news for the Rhineland: 71 percent of its scale-ups rate the location as advantageous for their company. This is mainly due to the proximity to industry and large companies as well as the availability of skilled workers. This is the result of a study conducted by digihub Düsseldorf/Rheinland among scale-ups in the region.

Most of the scale-ups surveyed offer a digital product for businesses. In the study, 48 percent of them say the biggest challenge is balancing operational business with ongoing strategic development. In addition to financial support, they want more networking with experts, other startups and their founders such as CEOs. In addition, attracting staff and the high cost of marketing and sales is problematic for many of the scale-ups surveyed.

"Thanks to the digihub Düsseldorf/Rheinland study, we can identify needs of founders and thus support start-ups and scale-ups in a more targeted manner, for example," explains Düsseldorf's Lord Mayor Stephan Keller. The city of Düsseldorf has various programs for this, yet the founder of the dermatologist app Dermanostic, Alice Martin, lacks "more visibility in politics, science and business."
