Düsseldorf is the first German city in which the e-scooters from Dutch provider Check are driving around. In order to stand out from the competition and counteract the problem of incorrectly parked scooters, Check has a bonus program that evaluates users' parking behaviour.

The Dutch are coming to Germany, and first at the border: following the German launch of Go Sharing's e-scooters, the e-scooter provider Check is now also available in Düsseldorf. What sets Check apart from others: It has a bonus program integrated into the app, allowing users to rate the parking of other scooters as good or bad: "It is important for us that our users are aware of the fact that they are parking a scooter in a public space. We want to ensure that they not only hold themselves accountable for their parking behavior, but also each other," says founder Paul van Merrienboer about the concept. The reward is free minutes for the next journey with the check scooters.

At 25 cents per minute, the price is slightly higher than that of Go Sharing. In addition to the two Dutch companies, Feldyx and Eddy can also be found in Düsseldorf.

van Merrienboer founded Check together with Marco Knitel and Thijn van Helvoirt in 2019 and the scooters have since been available in Rotterdam, Amsterdam, The Hague and Breda. The start-up is financed by Amsterdam-based venture capitalist Ponooc.
