Next provider for e-scooters launches in Germany

Düsseldorf is the first German city in which the e-scooters of the Dutch provider Check are driving around. To stand out from the competition and counteract the problem of incorrectly parked scooters, Check has a bonus program that evaluates the parking behavior of users.

The Dutch are coming to Germany, and first at the border: after the German launch of Go Sharing's e-scooters, e-scooter provider Check is now also available in Düsseldorf. What sets Check apart: It has integrated a bonus program in the app, with which users can rate the parking of other scooters as good or bad: "For us, it is important that our users are aware of the fact that they park a scooter in public space. We want them to hold each other responsible for their parking behaviour, not just themselves," says founder Paul van Merrienboer about the concept. The reward is free minutes for the next trip with the check scooters.

At 25 cents per minute, the price is slightly higher than Go Sharing. In addition to the two Dutch companies, Feldyx and Eddy can also be found in Düsseldorf.

Check was founded by van Merrienboer together with Marco Knitel and Thijn van Helvoirt in 2019 and since then the scooters are available in Rotterdam, Amsterdam, The Hague and Breda. The start-up is financed by Amsterdam-based venture capitalist Ponooc.
