Elio secures 2 million US dollars for sustainable pharmaceutical production

Vienna, February 13, 2025 - Greentech startup Elio has received USD 2 million in a funding round to integrate sustainable design principles directly into pharmaceutical production. The round was led by Ananda Impact Ventures, with participation from Overview, Cerulean Ventures and several industry experts and business angels.

Sustainability as a decisive factor in the pharmaceutical industry

The pharmaceutical industry produces twice as many CO₂ emissions as the aviation sector. At the same time, up to 80% of a product's ecological impact is already determined in the design phase. This is exactly where Elio comes in: The platform enables pharmaceutical companies to make sustainable decisions as early as the product development stage and optimize environmentally friendly manufacturing processes.

Cooperation with industry partners

Elio works closely with partners such as ten23 health, Cytiva and My Green Lab to develop sustainable production solutions. This involves a networked approach that goes beyond individual companies and includes the entire supply chain of the pharmaceutical industry.

Support from leading investors

In addition to institutional investors, Elio is supported by Stefan Oschmann (former CEO of Merck), Andreas Treichl and other well-known supporters from the tech and pharmaceutical industries. Founders of Lilium, Taulia and other successful start-ups have also participated in the financing round.
