Flexora uses a new printing process to produce highly flexible sensors on films that can be seamlessly integrated into surfaces. Thanks to seed funding from TGFS and TUDAG, the startup now plans to set up production in Dresden.

Dresden/Leipzig, November 12, 2024 - TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen and TUDAG are investing in the Dresden-based sensor technology startup Flexora together with a private investor. The company was founded as a spin-off from TU Dresden and uses new printing technologies to apply sensors and evaluation electronics to flexible films. Flexora intends to use the seven-figure seed funding to expand its production capacities and drive forward the company's development.

Flexora offers real innovation in the field of sensor technology and facilitates the collection of important data through flexible application options

Sensor technology on flexible film: efficient data collection over large areas

Flexora relies on organic thin-film electronics and a specially developed printing process that enables the production of flexible sensor films in a roll-to-roll process. These films can be applied to various surfaces and record parameters such as temperature, pressure or damage across large areas in real time. Target groups include companies from the energy and process technology sectors, who can use this technology to operate their systems more efficiently and conserve resources.

With our sensor foil, data can be recorded over large areas without the need for complex cabling

Dr. Michael Sawatzki-Park, CTO of Flexora

The seed funding provided by TGFS and TUDAG enables Flexora to set up a production line in Dresden and further develop the company. TUDAG and a private investor are also convinced of the young company's potential and are supporting the team on its way to making sensor technology more accessible and cost-effective through new approaches.

Founding team from research: from idea to marketable solution

Flexora was founded in 2022 by an interdisciplinary team of researchers from TU Dresden. The company's aim is to create new possibilities for industrial data acquisition and process optimization with flexible sensor foils. The founders Dr. Michael Sawatzki-Park, Clemens Haist, Dr. David Kneppe and Kivanc Ararat contributed their research findings from the university to the development and are supported by Professor Dr. Karl Leo, a pioneer in the field of organic electronics.
