Google Cloud expands in Germany

News from the Google empire: the cloud platform is to be expanded to include three regions: Germany, Chile and Saudi Arabia.
Google's cloud platform continues to expand, having already added four new regions in 2020: Seoul, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas and Jakarta. Yesterday, Google announced that it will now also be available in Saudi Arabia, Chile and Germany. In Germany, this will complement the existing cloud platform in Frankfurt am Main. Customers so far include Deutsche Börse and Metro.
Worldwide, it is mainly Google, Microsoft and Amazon that are competing for the cloud business. Until now, Google has always been in third place in terms of the availability of its offering, but with the expansion it has now announced, it is catching up with AWS, the Amazon offering. Google Cloud is currently available in 24 regions across 73 zones. In addition to the three newly announced regions, there have long been plans to expand to France, Italy, Qatar and Spain over the next few years.
