Greentech Swobbee raises six million euros

The start-up develops filling stations for micromobility. Now a new investor is getting on board.
Berlin-based greentech Swobbee is receiving six million euros. The round is led by the EIT Innoenergy fund, which is supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology. An unnamed existing investor is also said to have invested again.
Thomas Duscha and Tobias Breyer founded Swobbee in 2016. The start-up now employs 34 people and operates 16 Swobbee stations. The founders see the charging stations as "decentralized filling stations". Empty vehicle batteries can be exchanged for full ones and recharged there. The focus is on e-scooters, e-bikes and e-cargo bikes. The Swobbee app can be used to display nearby charging locations and reserve batteries. According to the start-up, it is already working on pilot projects with Tier Mobility, Apcoa, Hermes and DPD.
"Micromobility plays a crucial role in the transport transition in urban areas. This makes it all the more important to set up a nationwide network of efficient charging and exchange stations for all the different types of vehicles," says Jennifer Dungs, Head of Transportation and Mobility at EIT Innoenergy, about the start-up. Swobbee now intends to use the new capital to set up its battery exchange stations in Germany and other European countries.
