NexDash Receives 2.5 Million Euros from EIT Urban Mobility to Electrify European Freight Transport
Berlin-based logistics and ClimateTech provider NexDash has received 2.5 million euros in funding from EIT Urban Mobility. The organization is part of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and is one of Europe’s leading innovation initiatives in the field of sustainable mobility. The funding takes the form of a Pre-Series-A investment and simultaneously secures EIT Urban Mobility a stake in a future Series-A round.
With this fresh capital, NexDash aims to accelerate its expansion and drive the transition of traditional freight fleets toward zero-emission transport solutions.
A New Approach to Transforming Logistics
While many startups are developing new software solutions or individual mobility services, NexDash is taking a much more comprehensive approach. The company describes itself as Europe’s first “neo-carrier.”
Its business model is based on acquiring established medium-sized freight forwarding companies, whose fleets are then converted to electric commercial vehicles. Operational processes are managed via the company’s proprietary AI platform, NexOS. By combining technology, capital, energy supply, and operational logistics, NexDash aims to significantly accelerate the decarbonization of road freight transport.
First Acquisition Already Completed
Just a few days before announcing the financing, NexDash had taken the first major step in its growth strategy with the acquisition of March Transporte from Rheinbach in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The integration of existing logistics companies is intended to enable the company to leverage existing customer relationships, driver structures, and operational processes while simultaneously driving forward the electrification of its fleets. The capital now raised will be used in particular to convert additional vehicles and expand operations in key European markets.
Support from Europe’s Mobility Network
With EIT Urban Mobility, NexDash gains not only an investor but also a strategic partner. The organization has an extensive network of cities, companies, research institutions, and mobility stakeholders across Europe. The partnership is intended to help bring sustainable logistics solutions to market more quickly while making supply chains more efficient and resilient.
Michael Cassau, founder and CEO of NexDash, sees the collaboration as an important milestone for the company’s further development. The goal is to drive the electrification of freight transport across Europe.
From Grover Founder to Logistics Platform
NexDash emerged from Platform Horizons (P6N), Michael Cassau’s investment platform. The entrepreneur had previously built the rental commerce company Grover and led it as CEO for many years.
With NexDash, Cassau is now focusing on one of Europe’s largest transformation markets. Road freight transport accounts for a significant portion of transportation-related CO₂ emissions and is simultaneously under growing economic pressure to implement more sustainable solutions.
Electrification as a Multi-Billion Market
The funding underscores investors’ growing interest in technologies and business models that enable the decarbonization of logistics.
NexDash is not relying solely on electric vehicles, but on the complete integration of operations, fleet management, and AI-powered control. This platform-based approach could give the company a decisive competitive advantage as the electrification of European freight transport continues to gain momentum in the coming years.
