Hundreds of Durstexpress terminations ineffective?

According to a report by Gründerszene , the Dr. Oetker subsidiary will initially have to forego redundancies at its Leipzig site. The employment agency is standing in the way.
The dismissals of 450 employees at former Flaschenpost competitor Durstexpress are probably unlawful. This is reported by Gründerszene citing a letter from the Leipzig employment agency. A layoff ban is now in effect until March 22. In the case of mass redundancies, the employment agency has the option of taking this step, which it used in the case of Durstexpress.
The redundancies were a consequence of the merger of Durstexpress and Flaschenpost. Both companies now belong to Dr. Oetker. The food group acquired Flaschenpost last year for one billion euros and now wants to merge the beverage delivery service with its own company Durstexpress.
The Leipzig employment agency's stipulation only applies to the location in the Saxon city. Dr. Oetker also wants to close Durstexpress warehouses in other cities, which are in direct competition with Flaschenpost. In the medium term, the Durstexpress brand will probably disappear completely.
