Kopernikus Automotive raises three million euros

The Leipzig-based start-up develops software for automated parking. This convinces Continental, among others.
Leipzig-based start-up Kopernikus Automotive raises three million euros as a follow-up investment. According to the start-up, the automotive supplier Continental, which already invested in August 2021, and TGFS Technologiegründerfons Sachsen have invested. It is the next success story for the East German company after it had already landed pilot projects from Volkswagen and Ford in the past. COO Tim von Törne said of the new financing round: "This capital increase ensures that we can complete our series development and safety certification for one of the first truly driverless applications that we will see on a daily basis".
The start-up specializes in programming an application that will enable automatic parking and manoeuvring. There will then be no one behind the wheel. Instead, cars will be monitored and controlled by computer, for example in parking garages or logistics centers. In a new test facility in Wolfsburg, Kopernikus will be able to test its application together with Volkswagen's software group Cariad.
Stefan Jenzowsky, CEO of Kopernikus Automotive, expressed his thanks on the occasion of the financing round: "It is not easy for a start-up to get into the automotive industry, especially with an AI-based driving function," he says. He continued: "We are therefore very grateful to all our partners and car manufacturers, especially here in Germany, who have worked with us on this new technology in recent years and have enabled us to try out, test and implement Automated Valet Parking for the first time in various working groups and constellations."
