Health insurance companies cover the costs of ovular ringing

Using an algorithm to combat the unfulfilled desire to have children: this is what the start-up Vivosens Medical promises with its Ovularing. Four health insurance companies now cover the costs.
Good news for anyone who wants to have children: Ovularing, developed by Vivosens Medical, is now covered by four health insurance companies. Interested parties must pay an initial fee of 99 euros, all other costs are covered by the health insurance companies. The ring can very accurately detect the stages of a woman's cycle and her fertility health, meaning that treatment for an unfulfilled desire to have children can be individualized and efficient. The measurement is evaluated by an algorithm that doctors can view in order to continue treatment via telemedicine. Over 3,000 women currently use Ovularing in German-speaking countries.
The Leipzig-based start-up has been dedicated to research and development in the fields of gynecology, reproductive and sexual medicine since 2011. The Ovularing is the first product in the field of women's health. The costs were covered thanks to the company's participation in the Healthy Hub 2019, in which Vivosens Medical was one of five start-ups to win. The competition is dedicated to innovative health solutions.
The participating health insurance companies are BIG direkt gesund, Hanseatische Krankenkasse (HEK), IKK Südwest and mhplus. The cooperation is also accompanied by a study dedicated to the efficiency of ovular ringing. The Institute for Health Research Berlin (InGef) is carrying out the evaluation.
