Maschmeyer considers opening his funds

Carsten Maschmeyer is considering opening up his private funds to others. The announcement is primarily intended to gauge investor interest; the earliest date for the opening would be the end of the year.

Carsten Maschmeyer surprises with new plans: he announced to the Handelsblatt that he wants to open his private funds. So far, only one of three financing vehicles is open to other investors. Maschmeyer apparently wants to change that soon. "I have to think about: How strong is the advantage of taking in other interested investors - and what does our company get out of it?", Maschmeyer told Handelsblatt

Maschmeyer currently has three financing vehicles. Already open to investors is growth capital provider Alstin Capital, in whose fund Alstin II a total of 30 partners are involved. In addition, he also operates Seed+Speed and the US company Maschmeyer Group Ventures (MGV). Both could open up to investors in the future, but with one exception. This is because Seed+Speed invests primarily in the early stages of start-ups, which is also where his investments from the TV show "Höhle der Löwen" are located. He would want to continue to decide on these fast investments alone, Maschmeyer told Handelsblatt

A possible opening could take place as early as the end of the year or early 2022. Maschmeyer would benefit from the investors' money and could significantly increase the size of his funds, but he would also have to share the returns. Future partners could be, for example, companies or larger corporations that have so far lacked access to the young companies.
