REIA raises 90 million euros
In a challenging financing environment, the Hamburg-based investment advisor REIA has achieved a remarkable success: The company's first private equity fund of funds was closed with a volume of over 90 million euros. The fund REIA Capital Fonds I (RCF01) is specifically geared towards European small-cap buyout funds and has clearly struck a chord with many investors.
Strong demand despite difficult market conditions
REIA has attracted more than 180 investors to the fund since it was launched at the beginning of 2024. In view of a fundraising market characterized by uncertainty and caution, this is considered a remarkable achievement.
The investor base is broadly diversified. In addition to institutional investors, it is primarily semi-professional investors such as foundations, family offices and wealthy private individuals who participate. The tickets range from 200,000 euros to individual investments in the double-digit million range.
The success shows that alternative asset classes such as private equity continue to gain in importance, especially in times of volatile capital markets.
Focus on European SMEs
Investments are made in selected European small-cap funds, which in turn make investments in medium-sized companies. In total, the fund of funds plans to invest in around ten target funds.
This focus is no coincidence. Small caps in the private equity sector are considered to be particularly fast-growing and at the same time less efficiently developed than large buyout transactions. For investors, this opens up the opportunity for attractive returns, albeit with a higher level of risk and selection effort.
Access to an asset class that is otherwise difficult to access
A key advantage of the fund-of-funds approach is diversification and easier access. Individual investors often do not have the opportunity to invest directly in top funds, either due to high minimum tickets or a lack of networks. Funds of funds such as RCF01 bundle capital and thus enable broader access to this asset class. At the same time, the risk is spread across several target funds.
For many investors, this combination of access and diversification is likely to have been the decisive factor.
Further funds already being planned
REIA is already thinking beyond the first fund. The third fund of funds (RCF03) has been on the market since the beginning of 2026, with a target volume of 100 million euros.
At the same time, the company is expanding its international focus. Through a cooperation with a US partner, REIA is also tapping into the North American small-cap market and thus offering investors additional diversification opportunities.
Experience
REIA is backed by an experienced team with more than 180 years of private equity experience. This expertise plays a key role in the selection of suitable target funds. In addition, the team itself invests in its own funds, a signal of alignment of interest that is gaining in importance among investors.
Private equity becomes more widely accessible
The successful completion of the first REIA fund of funds shows that private equity remains in demand even in difficult times. This is an important signal for founders and investors alike. Capital is still available, but is specifically looking for convincing concepts and structured access.
