ReViSalt receives seven-figure investment from TGFS

TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen invests a seven-figure sum in ReViSalt GmbH, a Freiberg-based tech start-up specializing in the chemical strengthening of glass.

Leipzig - ReViSalt GmbH, a spin-off of the Institute for Glass and Glass Technology at TU Bergakademie Freiberg, brings industry-proven know-how on the mechanisms of glass tempering and strengthening to the market. With regeneration materials and a new process approach for chemical strengthening, they offer technologies that are already being tested by well-known players in the glass industry.

The team impresses with its excellent technical and sales expertise. Within a short time, they have succeeded in establishing solid contacts and references, as well as laying the foundations for their own production.

Sören Schuster, Managing Director TGFS

Chemically strengthened glasses are more stable and resistant than normal glasses. They enable thinner and lighter products, have new applications and reduce costs and emissions. The difficulties and costs of the chemical strengthening process are mainly related to the long duration of the process and the complex mechanisms involved. In this process, the glass products are kept in a special bath of molten salt for several hours. However, this salt bath wears out after a few runs and must be replaced at great expense. Because of these challenges, the process has so far only been used for expensive products.

Regeneration of a salt bath saves resources, energy and costs - and not least preserves the quality of the glass refined in this way.

Dr.-Ing. Martin Groß, Co-Managing Director ReViSalt

ReViSalt has developed solutions to handle the problems associated with the chemical strengthening process. They have developed special materials called SaltClean that make the salt bath last longer and reduce wear. As a result, the salt needs to be replaced less frequently and the useful life of the salt bath can be extended. They also have a new process approach that speeds up solidification and greatly reduces turnaround time. By combining these two technologies, a new level of chemical solidification is achieved.

Chemical solidification will become economical with our technologies for a wide range of applications. New products and markets will emerge

Michael Heidan, Co-Managing Director ReViSalt

The investment of TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen in ReViSalt GmbH, founded in 2021, is in the seven-digit range. These funds, along with additional debt capital, will be used to further build the company and production.
