SellerX apparently lays off employees

According to media reports, the Berlin-based store buyer has laid off dozens of employees.
The Berlin-based e-commerce buyer SellerX is said to have cut 28 jobs, as the industry portal Sifted reports. In total, the company employs 700 people.
SellerX is a so-called Amazon aggregator. The company buys successful stores on the platform and bundles them in its own company. Harvard graduates Philipp Triebel and Malte Horeyseck founded the start-up in 2020, and the company already achieved unicorn status in 2021. Renowned investors such as Blackrock and Sofina from Belgium were behind the financing. With the capital, SellerX has acquired 40 stores so far, according to its own information.
Amazon aggregators experienced a boom in the pandemic. Through closed stores, online retail flourished. But store buyers are now also feeling the economic pinch. SellerX competitor Berlin Brands Group, for example, also recently laid off nearly 100 employees.
