The "Tech Hub" offers 1,850 square meters of space for start-ups from the city. The companies can even rent space for free at times.

The Mannheim "Tech Hub" is ready and now offers tech start-ups space for their first steps. Young companies and student teams can rent space on 1,850 square meters, temporarily even for free. The city particularly wants to appeal to regional accelerator programs and students at universities.

"Accelerators are among the success factors in promoting technology-oriented start-ups. They sustainably strengthen the start-up scene and thus serve the innovative capacity of the state," says Baden-Württemberg's Minister of Economic Affairs Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut (CDU).

The city of Mannheim has invested 3.48 million euros in the Tech Hub. The state added one million euros from the European Regional Development Fund. "The goal is to consistently expand our dynamic start-up ecosystem across industries," says Lord Mayor Peter Kurz (SPD).

In addition to offices, the Tech Hub also offers space with 3D printers, laser cutters and an electrical workstation where students and founders can build initial prototypes, for example.
