The Berlin-based fintech company Moss has successfully closed its Series C funding round and has officially become a unicorn with a valuation of over one billion euros. The funding round was led by Portage and Cherry Ventures. With this fresh capital, Moss plans to expand its AI strategy and evolve from an expense management platform into a comprehensive financial platform for businesses.

Over 5,000 companies already rely on Moss

Since its founding, Moss has grown into one of Europe’s leading providers of digital financial and expense management. More than 5,000 companies in Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Austria now rely on the platform.

The company now generates annual recurring revenue (ARR) of over 70 million euros and employs more than 350 people.

Focus on Finance AI

With this new round of funding, Moss is taking the next step in its development: building an AI-powered finance platform (“Finance AI”).

In the future, companies will be able to use specialized AI agents for tasks such as:

  • monthly and annual financial statements,
  • controlling,
  • budget planning,
  • forecasting,
  • and other financial processes

can be configured.

In doing so, Moss deliberately focuses on the controlled use of AI. According to an in-house survey of 471 finance executives, 48 percent cited complete control over AI processes as the most important requirement. Only 6 percent want fully autonomous systems.

The new AI agents are therefore designed to always operate under the control of finance departments and support them, rather than replace them.

Millions of Automated Financial Processes Already in Use

Moss’s AI technology is already in productive use. According to the company, the AI agents help automatically categorize and process more than two million financial transactions per month. This significantly reduces manual accounting tasks and frees up time for finance teams to focus on strategic activities.

Capital for Expanding the AI Platform

With this Series C funding, Moss aims to accelerate its product development and systematically expand its finance AI platform. Plans include new AI agents for all core tasks of modern finance departments, as well as further international expansion.

Portage and Cherry Ventures Lead the Round

The Series C funding round is led by Portage and Cherry Ventures.

With this new round, the company’s valuation has surpassed one billion euros for the first time, officially making Moss the latest German fintech unicorn.

Founders are driving the next generation of financial software

Moss was founded by Ante Spittler, Anton Rummel, Ferdinand Meyer, and Stephan Haslebacher. Together, they are pursuing the vision of relieving finance departments of routine operational tasks with the help of intelligent AI agents and offering companies greater transparency and a better basis for decision-making.
