Company acquires stake in start-up Snabble

Q.beyond buys a 25.4 percent stake in the Bonn-based start-up Snabble. In the future, the company could also take over the majority.

The listed company q.beyond is buying a 25.4 percent stake in the start-up Snabble. There is an option to take a majority stake in the Bonn-based company from 2023, or at least to expand the stake. Snabble offers a scan-and-go principle that allows customers to scan and pay for their own groceries in stores. The app is used by Tegut and Ikea, for example, and Lidl and Aldi Süd have recently also been testing the service in individual stores.

Sebastian Mancke founded Snabble in 2018, the CEO is happy about the investment: "Our success story continues. Together with q.beyond, we will take digitalization in retail to a new level." Q.beyond and Snabble are already working together on initial projects, and q.beyond has high hopes for the future: "We will grow disproportionately in retail in the coming years," announces Thorsten Raquet, member of the management board.

With the StoreButler platform, the company has developed a digital solution for the retail industry, through which processes in stores can be controlled centrally, zero-waste management can be carried out and other tools can be operated. "Our StoreButler retail platform now covers the entire shopping experience with integrated solutions - from digital price tags to self-checkout," says Raquet about the integration of Snabble's offering.
