Company acquires stake in start-up Snabble

Q.beyond acquires a 25.4 percent stake in Bonn-based start-up Snabble. The company could also acquire a majority stake in the future.

The listed company q.beyond has acquired a 25.4 percent stake in the start-up Snabble. It has the option of acquiring a majority stake in the Bonn-based company from 2023 or at least increasing its holding. Snabble offers a scan and go principle that allows customers to scan and pay for their groceries themselves in stores. The app is used by Tegut and Ikea, for example, and Lidl and Aldi Süd have recently also been testing the service in individual stores.

Sebastian Mancke founded Snabble in 2018 and the CEO is delighted with the investment: "Our success story continues. Together with q.beyond, we will take digitalization in retail to a new level." Q.beyond and Snabble are already working together on their first projects, and q.beyond has high hopes for the future: "We will grow disproportionately in the retail sector in the coming years," announces Thorsten Raquet, member of the Management Board.

With the StoreButler platform, the company has developed a digital solution for retailers that can be used to centrally control processes in stores, carry out zero-waste management and operate other tools. "Our StoreButler retail platform now covers the entire shopping experience with integrated solutions - from digital price tags to self-checkout," says Raquet about the integration of Snabble's offering.
