Wingcopter introduces new drone

The start-up claims to have built the world's first drone that can deliver up to three parcels in one flight.

Wingcopter has unveiled its new generation of drones called Wingcopter 198. The drone can fly up to 110 kilometers per battery charge, with a top speed of 150 km/h. The "triple drop mechanism" can deliver up to three parcels fully automatically using a cable winch.

"The Wingcopter 198 is a game-changer for drone-based deliveries, with the potential to build humanitarian and commercial air bridges for more efficient and sustainable delivery to people all over the world," says Tom Plümmer, CEO of Wingcopter. "As a powerful delivery drone, the Wingcopter 198 can be used perfectly as a fleet solution in delivery networks and will thus enable completely new business models worldwide." Wingcopter presented the model to the WHO during World Immunization Week because the start-up is pursuing the goal of providing good access to medical supplies worldwide.

Series production is due to start soon in Weiterstadt near Darmstadt in Hesse. The first 100 models can already be pre-ordered online. The down payment is 5,000 euros, the company is keeping quiet about the total price. The start-up is also launching a program for partners to train drone pilots.
