Wingcopter introduces new drone

The start-up claims to have built the world's first drone that can deliver up to three packages in one flight.

Wingcopter has unveiled its new generation drone called Wingcopter 198. The drone can fly up to 110 kilometers per battery charge, with a top speed of 150 km/h. The "triple drop mechanism" can fully automatically deliver up to three packages with a winch.

"The Wingcopter 198 is a game-changer for drone-based deliveries, with the potential to build humanitarian and commercial air bridges for more permanently efficient delivery to people everywhere," said Tom Ploemmer, CEO of Wingcopter. "As a high-performance delivery drone, the Wingcopter 198 can be perfectly deployed as a fleet solution in delivery networks, which will enable entirely new business models worldwide." Wingcopter unveiled the model during WHO's World Immunization Week as the startup aims to establish good access to medical supplies worldwide.

Series production is expected to start soon in Weiterstadt, near Darmstadt in the German state of Hesse. The first 100 models are already available for pre-order online. The down payment is 5,000 euros, the company is silent about the total price. In addition, the start-up is launching a program for partners to train drone pilots.
