Workpath wins top managers from the competition

The startup poaches executives from Celonis and Contentful - two German startups valued in the billions.

Munich-based startup Workpath is bringing two experienced managers into its executive suite: Jakob Huhn and Pia Vieregge. Huhn will now be the new vice president of sales. From 2013 to 2018, he had built Amazon's "AWS SME" sales team in Europe. Most recently, he held the title of "Head of Sales EMEA" at Berlin-based start-up Contentful, which is now valued at over three billion euros. At Contentful, he developed the sales team and was instrumental in the company's success, according to Workpath.

Vieregge, meanwhile, will become head of human resources. A graduate of London's Kingston University, she was previously "Director People Programs" at German start-up Celonis. At eleven billion euros, Celonis is currently the most valuable German unicorn. Under her leadership, her team was able to hire more than 600 new employees.

Workpath uses the so-called OKR method, which was once made famous by Google. This stands for "Objectives and Key Results" and is intended to help in the management of digital companies. According to its own information, it is the market leader in Europe for so-called "outcome management" and OKR. The company has developed a tool to help companies manage their own goals, which serve the strategy. Based on OKR and other methods, companies can prepare their goals visually for their employees. Through dependencies between the goals, they should be able to identify and eliminate possible bottlenecks at an early stage. More than 30 percent of DAX companies, including E.ON, and other large companies such as DB Schenker, Metro and Bosch are already using the tool, according to the company.
