The start-up plants forest areas with the help of drones. With this, the start-up also convinced Wi Venture and the business angel club Better Ventures.

Skyseed has closed a seed financing round of two million euros. The round is led by Wi Venture. Business angel club Better Ventures also participated in the round, including Christoph Behn, Franz Viegener, Nicolas Peters and Gwendolyn Schröter. Rivus Capital, Katja Ruhnke and Conny Hörl from CK Venture, Michael Hetzer, Frederik Pfisterer from Solarize, Benjamin Minack from Ressourcenmangel and forest owners Lucas von Fürstenberg and Gabriel von dem Bussche invested in the start-up.

Ole Seidenberg, Simon Wind and Dominik Wind founded Skyseed in 2021 in Berlin. The start-up specializes in sowing seeds in the forest with the help of drones. Seeds can also be dropped in a targeted manner on areas that are difficult to access, such as steep slopes. Skyseed packages the seeds in pellets that protect them from predators and drought and help them germinate better. The company also works with forest owners to analyze which plants and trees are suitable for the climatic conditions in each region and can withstand climate change in spite of them. In this way, the company aims to help with reforestation and keep the forest healthy in the long term. "With our offer, we want to provide an economically and ecologically sensible supplement to conventional reforestation with seedlings," says Skyseed founder Ole Seidenberg. "We are particularly pleased that we were able to attract experienced entrepreneurs as investors, who bring an understanding of the complexity of the underlying natural processes and recognize the long-term impact of our startup."

Skyseed plans to use the capital from the funding round to expand its drone and software team and refine its technical processes. The company also plans to scale production of its seed pellets. In the next sowing season, Skyseed hopes to plant areas of up to 500 hectares in this way.
