TODAY Receives 2.8 Million Euros
The AI startup TODAY has closed a seed funding round totaling 2.8 million euros. The round is co-led by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and Insurtech Gateway. Seed X, Lucid Capital, former HDI CEO Herbert Rogenhofer, and Tech11 founder Pierre Dubosq are also participating. The company plans to use the capital to scale its platform for financial and insurance advisors in the DACH region and expand the automation of front- and back-office processes.
TODAY was founded in 2024 by Michael Gackstatter and Artem Demchenkov and is headquartered in Copenhagen and Berlin. According to the company, more than 3,500 advisors at insurers, distribution companies, and brokerage firms now use the platform in their daily work.
AI agents are designed to take on administrative tasks
TODAY views its software as an operating system for financial sales. The platform is designed to support advisors before, during, and after client meetings and to automate some of the associated administrative work.
To this end, client meetings are transcribed and documented, for example. In addition, AI agents can handle routine back-office tasks, support advisors during the sales process, and handle incoming phone calls.
The goal is to remove as many administrative tasks as possible from day-to-day advisory work, while the actual client relationship remains with the human advisor.
TODAY describes its approach as “compliance-first.” Especially in the regulated financial and insurance sales sectors, the technology is designed not only to increase productivity but also to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
3,500 Advisors Use TODAY
With more than 3,500 users, the young company reports that it already has a significant user base in the DACH region. Its clients include insurers, sales organizations, and brokerage firms. However, TODAY does not name specific companies in the press release.
According to the company, users of the platform save an average of five hours of administrative work per week. In addition, advisors are said to be able to increase their revenue by up to ten percent with TODAY.
The company also reports an average of 50 times more insights from client meetings.
The press release does not specify exactly how these figures were calculated, the size of the underlying sample, or the time period over which the effects were measured. The metrics should therefore initially be regarded as company estimates.
More Automation in Financial Sales
TODAY is targeting a market shaped by both technological and regulatory change.
Financial and insurance advisors must document client meetings and manage numerous administrative and regulatory processes. At the same time, pressure is mounting to serve larger client portfolios with limited personnel resources.
The startup sees this as an area of application for specialized AI agents. Unlike general AI applications, the software is designed to be tailored to the processes and requirements of financial and insurance sales.
TODAY plans to use the new capital to expand this approach. In addition to further scaling operations in the DACH region, the company aims to drive forward the “agent-based” automation of front- and back-office operations in particular.
Founders with FinTech and InsurTech Experience
The two founders bring experience from several fintech companies.
CEO Michael Gackstatter and CTO Artem Demchenkov previously held leadership positions at FinTech and InsurTech companies such as CLARK, Funding Circle, and Billie.
HTGF investment manager Tizian Hoppen sees this combination of industry experience and execution expertise as a particular strength of the team. Insurtech Gateway also highlights TODAY’s close collaboration with financial and insurance advisors in product development.
2.8 million euros for the next phase of growth
The seed round is now intended to help TODAY build a broader market position in German-speaking financial and insurance sales, building on its existing user base of 3,500 advisors.
A key factor here will be how far automation can actually be taken. Transcription and documentation of conversations are now established AI use cases. Things get more challenging when agents take on tasks independently, handle customer communications, or execute processes in a highly regulated environment.
This is precisely where TODAY aims to position itself. If the company succeeds in reliably integrating its AI agents into the existing processes of insurers, sales organizations, and brokerage firms, its current assistance system could increasingly evolve into an operational automation platform for financial sales.
