AMERIA Raises an Additional 10 Million Euros
The Heidelberg-based deep tech company AMERIA has closed its latest funding round through the business angel network Companisto, raising more than 10 million euros. According to the company, this brings the total capital raised across multiple rounds to 60 million euros. More than 4,000 private investors have now participated in the financing. The capital is being invested, among other things, in technologies for human-machine interaction and local AI applications.
The latest round was closed on September 18, 2026. For AMERIA, it is part of a long-term financing strategy that differs significantly from traditional venture capital rounds.
More than 4,000 private investors
Instead of relying on individual institutional venture capital funds, AMERIA has been leveraging Companisto’s business angel network for several years.
According to the announcement, more than 4,000 private investors have now provided a total of 60 million euros across the various funding rounds. Companisto describes this as the largest deep tech development funded through a business angel network in the German-speaking world.
However, the press release does not provide an independent assessment of this record claim.
For Companisto, the current round has another unique feature: According to the network, it is the first of its own financings in which the EU prospectus threshold—raised in June 2026—was applied.
Sony is marketing a jointly developed 3D display
AMERIA was founded in 2018 and focuses on technologies for human-machine interaction. According to the company, it holds 87 patents and patent applications.
The systems are designed to enable users to control digital content via gestures and voice, among other methods. The company has taken an important commercial step forward in partnership with Sony.
According to AMERIA, Sony has been marketing a jointly developed interactive 3D display worldwide since February 2026. This marks the Heidelberg-based company’s technology’s entry into the international market through an established electronics conglomerate.
AMERIA founder and CEO Albrecht Metter views this as a major milestone in the company’s development to date. Long-term financing through the existing investor network has enabled the development of the technology and the collaboration with Sony.
MAVERICK AI is designed to run AI locally
At the same time, AMERIA is working on its MAVERICK AI platform. The company is combining its human-machine interaction technologies with artificial intelligence.
A key feature is local processing. The AI is designed to run directly on the respective device, thereby eliminating the need for constant data exchange with a cloud.
AMERIA is positioning this approach particularly against the backdrop of the European debate on technological sovereignty. The company argues that key European technologies should not only be developed in Europe but also financed with European capital.
The current funding is intended to support the further development of these technologies.
Funding Outside Traditional VC Structures
It is precisely the structure of the financing that makes AMERIA unusual within the German deep tech landscape.
Complex hardware and DeepTech developments often require large amounts of capital over many years. Typically, institutional venture capital and growth investors play a central role in this process.
AMERIA, on the other hand, relies on several consecutive funding rounds with private investors. The current round of more than 10 million euros brings the total capital raised through this approach to 60 million euros.
Companisto sees this as an example of how business angels can support technology-oriented companies through multiple stages of development and growth.
60 million euros for the next phase of development
With this new funding, AMERIA can now continue pursuing its existing approach. At the same time, the focus is shifting increasingly from pure technology development toward commercial scaling.
The collaboration with Sony serves as an important reference point in this regard. With MAVERICK AI, the company is simultaneously seeking to position itself at the intersection of 3D interfaces, multimodal control, and locally executed AI.
Having raised a total of 60 million euros in capital, the key factor for further development will likely be the extent to which the technology can be translated into larger volumes and recurring revenue through partnerships such as the one with Sony.
