Until recently, the start-up was called Oviavo. Now it is getting support primarily from angel investors.

Apryl has raised €4.1 million in a seed funding round. Breega led the round, and existing investor Atlantic Labs participated again. Crista Galli Ventures, Myelin VC, Alliance For Impact Ventures, Westtech Ventures and various business angels also invested. They include Kate Ryder, CEO of Maven Clinic, a virtual women's and family clinic based in New York. Overture Life founder and CEO Martin Varsavsky also invested. Overall, 66 percent of the invested business angels are women.

"We have been monitoring the global fertility services market for some time and believe Apryl's platform is the only one capable of meeting the unique and diverse needs of the European market," said Martin Varsavsky of Overture Life, who invested in Apryl. Apryl enables companies across Europe to support their employees with family planning through a benefits program. Services include, for example, counseling, access to fertility clinics, egg and sperm freezing treatments, artificial insemination and adoption. Typically, couples must pay for fertility treatments and adoption themselves. Through Apryl, companies can contribute to the costs. The family-friendly approach to employees is intended to help retain young talent within the company.

Until recently, Apryl was called Oviavo. Jenny Saft and Tobias Kaufhold founded the start-up in Berlin at the end of 2019.
