Beelinguapp raises almost one million euros

The language learning start-up apparently receives a large early investment. The CEO of eBay Kleinanzeigen is also involved.
The Berlin start-up Beelinguapp has received 1.1 million US dollars in investment money, according to a report by tech.eu . The seed funding was led by the American venture capital Joyance Partners and the Swiss EquityPitcher Ventures. The business angels involved include eBay Kleinanzeigen CEO Paul Heimann and Atomico.
The start-up was founded by Mexican English teacher David Montiel in Berlin. To date, the language learning app he developed has been downloaded around 3.5 million times. It enables users to read texts in two languages side by side and have the texts read aloud to them. This allows customers to read their favorite stories, fairy tales or news articles, for example. The start-up relies primarily on audio books, music and karaoke. The app can currently be used to learn 14 languages.
