Edenred acquires a stake in Belonio

From now on, the Münster-based start-up Belonio will work together with the service platform Edenred. In the future, the companies want to offer services around employee benefits from a single source.

The employee benefits platform Belonio gets the with the service platform Edenred a new participant. This was announced by both companies now. By the minority participation of Edenred one can offer now all services approximately around the topic coworker benefit from a hand.

The Münster-based start-up Belonio has been in existence since 2015, having been founded by Frank Rohmann and Sven Janßen. Via the company's platform, companies can offer their employees additional benefits. These can be meal allowances, but also gift vouchers or a company pension scheme. Belonio's software automatically ensures that the benefit programs comply with applicable tax laws. Currently, about 650 companies use Belonio.

French company Edenred offers earmarked payment solutions across sectors, such as meal vouchers, tolls, parking fees and gift vouchers. Its Germany subsidiary alone has 37,000 corporate customers, the company said. "With Belonio, we are adding a digital benefits management platform to the offering for our customers." Christian Aubry, managing director at Edenred Germany, said in light of the merger: "In the future, all benefits can be managed through it as well as with the help of an associated employee app - all that is needed is a report for payroll."

Belonio CEO Thomas Pry also expressed his satisfaction, "The strategic partnership with Edenred opens up resources for us to further develop Belonio and integrate more benefits into our platform."
