Heidi Receives $340 Million for AI in Healthcare
The health tech scaleup Heidi is raising a total of $340 million in fresh capital to further expand its AI platform for healthcare professionals. Of that amount, $100 million comes from a Series C funding round led by Blackbird. An additional $240 million is being provided by General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund as growth financing. The Series C round values Heidi at $900 million. The company plans to use the capital to expand internationally, strengthen its presence in the DACH region, and increase investment in regulatory and clinical requirements for the European market.
$100 Million in Equity Plus Growth Funding
In addition to Blackbird, existing investors such as Phoenix Court—the investment firm behind LocalGlobe, Latitude, and Solar Funds—as well as Point72 Private Investments and Headline are participating in the Series C round. Together with the additional funding from General Catalyst, the transaction provides Heidi with $340 million. According to the company, it has raised a total of $436.6 million from investors to date.
Heidi was founded in Melbourne, Australia, and is developing a so-called “AI Care Partner” designed to support healthcare professionals during their clinical workday.
From Documentation to Clinical Workflow
Heidi initially focused on AI-powered documentation of medical consultations. The company is now seeking to move beyond traditional scribe functions.
The platform is designed to handle administrative tasks, provide clinical knowledge, and increasingly integrate with electronic health record systems. With “Evidenz,” for example, Heidi offers a feature designed to provide context-specific medical information at the point of care. According to the company, nearly eight million requests have been processed since its launch in March 2026.
In addition, the platform features a dictation function and “Remote,” its own portable hardware device.
For transcription and the creation of medical notes, Heidi states that it now relies almost entirely on its own AI models rather than exclusively on external Frontier models.
2.8 million patient contacts per week
The company now reports significant international adoption. According to Heidi, the platform is used in approximately 2.8 million patient interactions per week and is available in 190 countries and 110 languages.
In total, the technology has already been used in more than 175 million patient interactions and has supported healthcare professionals during more than 67 million clinical work hours.
The company has also grown rapidly from a financial standpoint. According to the company, annual recurring revenue (ARR) has risen from $1 million to $50 million as of April 2026 since the product’s launch two years ago.
DACH Team to Be Doubled
Heidi plans to invest a portion of the capital specifically in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Since entering the market as part of the Series B funding round, the number of monthly active users in the DACH region had risen by 205 percent by August 2026. During this period, the company recorded more than 600,000 interactions with patients.
Now, the company plans to double its workforce in the region. In Germany in particular, Heidi plans to build a local leadership team.
The Swiss Medical Network is already among its customers in the region. Internationally, the platform is used in facilities in Australia and New Zealand, among other places. In the United Kingdom, Heidi reports that it was also selected as the sole provider for NHS England Midlands in a large-scale procurement of clinical AI documentation.
Regulation Becomes a Factor
However, as integration into clinical workflows increases, so do the requirements for security, validation, and regulation. Heidi therefore plans to invest part of the funding in regulatory processes for advanced clinical functions in Europe and the UK. Clinical decisions will continue to rest with healthcare professionals.
This brings Heidi to its next stage of development: evolving from a rapidly growing AI scribe into a more comprehensive infrastructure for clinical workflows. The $340 million provides the company with considerable financial flexibility to achieve this. The key question, however, will be whether the promised reduction in workload can be demonstrably combined with the high standards for data protection, security, and medical quality—even for more complex clinical functions.
