Boomerang closes pre-seed round with 1.1 million euros

Boomerang secures EUR 1.1 million in pre-seed financing for returnable packaging. Strengthening of IT and sales is planned. Expansion of the product range and a European expansion are targeted.

Boomerang's founders, Marc Engelmann, Christian Putz and Katharina Kreutzer, have successfully closed a EUR 1.1 million pre-seed financing. This step marks the company's second capital increase. The fresh capital will mainly be invested in strengthening the IT and sales divisions in order to better establish reusable packaging on the market.

Both existing investors and three new investors have invested in Boomerang's business model and continue to support the company with their networks. Marc Engelmann, CEO of Boomerang, is pleased with the increased interest, especially given the current economic challenges for startups. He notes that another closing is planned to bring in even more partners.

Since its founding in 2022, Boomerang has made significant progress. The team has grown to about 15 employees and has successfully conducted a pilot with about 15 online stores. Thousands of packages are already in use, and four flexible packaging options have been added to the product range. Katharina Kreutzer, CPO of Boomerang, emphasizes the continuous development of the product range.

Our product range is constantly being expanded. A new addition is the Boomerang BOX for fragile items, which is traceable through the mail stream and has a patent pending.

Boomerang relies on reusable shipping packaging for online retail to replace single-use packaging. The system is based on a smart deposit model and return logistics, allowing up to 50 times reuse. This approach helps online stores strengthen their sustainability efforts, save money and promote a circular economy to reduce CO2 emissions.

In the coming years, Boomerang aims to be perceived as a leading reusable packaging brand and expand its presence to other European countries. The strong potential of the concept and the team is reflected in the widespread media interest in recent months. Over 40 press and media reports, including a feature on Pro7 Galileo and a report on ZDF Plan b, illustrate the growing interest in Boomerang.
