Conflux Technology receives USD 11 million in Series B funding

Conflux Technology and Odys Aviation are co-developing a turbogenerator heat exchanger system designed to reduce VTOL aircraft fuel consumption by over 40%.
Melbourne, Australia, October 22, 2024 - Conflux Technology, a global leader in heat transfer and additive manufacturing (AM), today announced the completion of an $11 million Series B funding round. This investment will be used to develop the company's proprietary Conflux Production Systems (CPS), expand global customer support and scale the team. The funding round was led by Breakthrough Victoria, with participation from AM Ventures and Acorn Capital.
Innovation in heat transfer and additive manufacturing
Conflux Technology specializes in solving heat transfer problems by manufacturing smaller, lighter and geometrically customizable heat exchangers. Thanks to additive manufacturing, Conflux can print highly efficient heat exchangers as a single component, saving time, material and energy and thus reducing the environmental footprint.
Our technology offers efficiency in heat transfer and enables significant weight savings in the devices that power everyday life
Michael Fuller, founder and CEO of Conflux Technology
Investing in sustainable production
The new funds will be used in particular for the further development of Conflux Production Systems (CPS). CPS is an end-to-end manufacturing system that replaces the conventional production of heat exchangers with automated, complex additive structures. This minimizes supply chain risks and increases efficiency. Conflux will also expand its workforce capacity and serve demand in the US, Europe and Asia.
We are proud to support Australian innovation and create sustainable jobs.
Grant Dooley, CEO of Breakthrough Victoria
Partnerships for the next generation of aviation
In addition to the new funding, Conflux is partnering with Odys Aviation to develop the next generation of VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft. The combination of Odys' hybrid-electric propulsion technology and Conflux's expertise in heat exchanger manufacturing is expected to result in a heat recovery turbogenerator that could reduce fuel consumption by over 40%. This system will be integrated into Odys Aviation's VTOL aircraft "Laila", which is expected to achieve a range of 450 miles and a payload of up to 130 pounds.
Conflux's additive manufacturing technology enables us to create geometrically complex and performance-optimized heat exchangers. This partnership redefines the possibilities of VTOL systems.
James Dorris, CEO of Odys Aviation
Growth potential and market opportunities
Conflux Technology is targeting a global heat exchanger market worth USD 6 billion. The company plans to standardize not only its heat exchangers, but also the manufacturing process so that customers can produce the heat exchangers locally. Further partnerships and developments are expected in the coming months to support Conflux's continued growth.
