ContextSDK has secured $4 million in seed funding to optimize mobile app interaction and roll out the platform in the US. The investment was led by Speedinvest.

Vienna, Austria - September 18, 2024 - Vienna-based startup ContextSDK, which is revolutionizing the way mobile apps engage their users, has received $4 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by Speedinvest, one of Europe's leading early-stage investors, with additional participation from First Momentum Ventures and US-based Heracles Capital. With this capital, the company plans to increase the number of mobile events processed to over 40 billion and launch its SaaS platform in the US in 2025.

Personalized app interactions while preserving privacy

A key problem in the mobile app sector is understanding users' intentions at the start of a session without compromising their privacy. Mobile apps are used in a wide variety of situations - on the move, in noisy environments or before bedtime - yet they rarely respond to these contexts. This lack of adaptability leads to missed opportunities for personalized user experiences and poor user retention. According to studies, 77% of users abandon apps within the first three days, and 95% after three months.

This is where ContextSDK comes in: By using state-of-the-art machine learning technologies that run on the device itself (Edge AI), the platform interprets over 200 signals that are automatically detected by smartphones. This enables apps to adapt to the user's real-world environment without collecting personal data or compromising privacy.

Investing in the future of app usage

ContextSDK plans to use the fresh capital to further develop its technology and increase the number of mobile events processed to over 40 billion. In addition, the company plans to launch its SaaS platform in the US and provide product owners and CMOs (Chief Marketing Officers) with tools to continuously optimize the user experience.

The biggest apps in the world have optimized their data and decision logic on the server side. It is clear that the combination with edge AI on the device will lead to better user experiences, improved engagement and ultimately monetization.

Mobile app interaction

ContextSDK currently offers three core products: Context Insights, Context Decision and Context Push. These solutions cover various aspects of mobile app interaction, from analytics and measurement to in-app decisions and push notifications.

We believe that the future of mobile apps lies in their ability to adapt to the user's real-world environment.

The company takes a privacy-centric approach and ensures that apps can personalize user experiences without resorting to invasive data collection. This avoids high infrastructure costs.

Support from investors

The investors are impressed by ContextSDK's vision and rapid progress. Markus Lang, Partner at Speedinvest, explains: "ContextSDK fills a crucial gap in the mobile app ecosystem. Their technology provides a much-needed solution to create personalized experiences without compromising user privacy. We are excited to join Dieter, Felix and the entire ContextSDK team on their journey."

David Meiborg, Partner at First Momentum Ventures, also emphasizes the relevance of the technology: "The way ContextSDK uses the 'real-world context' as a proxy for user intent is not only innovative, but also perfectly aligned with the increasing demand for privacy-oriented solutions in the field of mobile app development."

Looking to the future

Since its foundation in August 2023, ContextSDK has already processed over 10 billion mobile events. In 2025, the company plans to process over 40 billion events and launch its B2B SaaS platform in the US. These developments position ContextSDK as a pioneer in app personalization and user engagement while maintaining privacy.
