DataGuard acquires British company MyLife Digital

Together, the companies want to become the market leader in data protection. They are keeping quiet about the purchase price.
The data protection start-up DataGuard has acquired the provider of a leading consent and preference management platform, MyLife Digital from the UK. "We are convinced that we have found a perfect new home for MyLife Digital," says Jack Mason, Managing Director of Inc & Co, the parent company of MyLife Digital. "Their solution puts the consumer and their privacy first - there are strong synergies between DataGuard and MyLife Digital that will make the combination a strong market leader in data protection." The purchase price was not disclosed.
Among other things, DataGuard offers "data protection as a service" for companies and organizations. Consumers can use DataGuard Consent to view the history of all data that an organization has collected about them and to determine and control whether this data is shared with third parties. "Together, we will grow the customer base and help many more organizations around the world become data privacy compliant and generate real value through transparency and consent," says Thomas Regier, co-founder and CEO of DataGuard. MyLife Digital's consent and preference management platform will now become an integral part of the company's own software.
DataGuard was founded in Munich in 2017 and already has 1,500 customers, including Canon. 150 people work for the start-up in Munich, Berlin and London.
