The Polish unicorn takes over the medtech from the German media group Burda. Jameda now plans to hire at least 200 employees.

The platform for doctor-patient communication Jameda becomes part of the healthcare platform Docplanner Group. The acquiring company is considered Poland's first unicorn start-up. Jameda plans to hire at least 200 new employees in the next two to three years. Docplanner plans to invest more than 250 million euros in the German market over the same period. All existing Jameda employees will be allowed to stay on, and Jameda will continue to operate independently under its current management.

With this investment, Jameda intends to accelerate and strengthen the digitalization of the healthcare sector in Germany. Docplanner alone has already reached around 110,000 doctors and almost 70 million patients per month. Now Jameda is adding more than 20,000 doctors and eight million patients per month. Jameda was previously part of the German media group Hubert Burda Media. The takeover will take effect on January 1, 2022.

"We see the acquisition of Jameda as a unique opportunity to enter one of the largest European markets and shape healthcare in Germany. The Jameda team has a wealth of experience and is highly motivated to further expand its presence in the market," says Mariusz Gralewski, founder and CEO of Docplanner. Florian Weiß, CEO of Jameda, adds: "Docplanner is the perfect partner for Jameda as we have a very similar history and share the same values.

Docplanner is the market leader in European countries such as Italy and Spain as well as in its home country Poland. Four years ago, additional locations in Mexico and Brazil were added. Docplanner already has the largest geographic reach in the digital healthcare sector.
