Polish Unicorn takes over medtech from German media group Burda. Jameda now plans to hire at least 200 employees.

The platform for doctor-patient communication Jameda becomes part of the healthcare platform Docplanner Group. The acquiring company is considered Poland's first unicorn start-up. Jameda plans to hire at least 200 new employees in the next two to three years. During the same period, Docplanner plans to invest more than 250 million euros in the German market. All current Jameda employees will be allowed to stay, Jameda will continue to be independent under the current management.

Through the investment, Jameda wants to drive the digitalization of healthcare in Germany faster and stronger. Docplanner alone already reached around 110,000 doctors and almost 70 million patients a month. Now Jameda is bringing in another 20,000+ doctors and eight million patients a month. Until now, Jameda was part of the German media group Hubert Burda Media. The acquisition will take effect on January 1, 2022.

"We see the acquisition of Jameda as a unique opportunity to enter one of the largest European markets and shape healthcare in Germany. The Jameda team has great experience and is highly motivated to further expand its presence in the market," said Mariusz Gralewski, founder and CEO of Docplanner. Florian Weiß, CEO of Jameda, adds: "Docplanner is the perfect partner for Jameda as we have a very similar origin story and share the same values.

Docplanner is the market leader in European countries such as Italy and Spain, as well as in its home country of Poland. Four years ago, additional sites were added in Mexico and Brazil. Docplanner already has the largest geographic reach in digital healthcare.
