Layoffs at Delivery Hero

The delivery service is cutting some jobs at its Berlin headquarters - also with the aim of becoming profitable next year.
Delivery startup Delivery Hero is cutting a number of jobs at its Berlin headquarters. That was reported by the Manager Magazine. The company did not disclose how many employees are affected by the wave of layoffs. It told the magazine only that it was a small percentage. In total, Delivery Hero has 49,000 employees. The legal department, the finance department and the marketing department are said to be particularly affected by the cuts.
Yet financially, things haven't looked bad at all for the company lately. CEO Niklas Östberg had stated that this year's losses would be lower than expected and that Delivery Hero intended to generate a positive cash flow for the first time next year. The layoffs that have now taken place are intended to possibly contribute to profitability, and are about operational efficiency, the company said.
