TRAIT, the training app for runners, secures 1 million euros in a seed financing round. The investment is intended to drive the further development of the empathic AI training platform.

Bonn, July 22, 2024 - The Berlin-based startup TRAIT has successfully closed a seed financing round of 1 million euros. The funds come from High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), the angel club better ventures and other private investors. This investment is intended to support the further development of TRAIT's AI training platform, which offers a personalized and empathetic training experience for running athletes.

Platform for achieving individual training goals

TRAIT's goal is to help people achieve their individual training goals and lead a more active, healthier life. The focus is on the use of science-based training combined with a sense of community. According to the team's research, people often fail to achieve their fitness goals because their training plans are too inflexible or they don't have a supportive network. TRAIT addresses these issues to ensure that users don't fall behind despite everyday challenges.

With TRAIT, we have developed an app that acts as empathetically and understandingly as a human coach. We want to help people regain access to sport.

Raphael Jung, CEO of TRAIT

Empathic and adaptive training

We are excited about TRAIT's vision and approach to create an empathic and adaptive AI training platform that empowers people both physically and mentally.

Johannes Dierkes, Investment Manager at HTGF

Thanks to the seed funding, TRAIT can continue to pursue its vision of an empathic and adaptive training environment. This environment should not only improve athletic performance, but also the well-being of runners. The founders strive to set a new standard in the industry by emphasizing the importance of human interaction and social support.

Relaunch with a new identity

TRAIT, based in Berlin, was founded by Raphael Jung and Matthias Ettrich. Since 2021, the company has operated under the name "Twaiv" and focused on AI-generated, adaptive training plans. In July 2024, the company was relaunched under the new name TRAIT. The previous version of the app had already recorded significant growth with individualized running training plans and a virtual coach - downloads increased by 178% annually. With this relaunch, TRAIT aims to provide even better support for runners.
