Frankfurt Airport is testing a new concept for its food service with the Zurich start-up Yoordi. The idea originally comes from Thailand.

The Swiss start-up Yoordi has won Frankfurt Airport for a pilot project. The idea: after scanning a code, customers can read through the menu at their leisure, order and pay for their food without registering and then collect it from the corresponding food provider.

"The pilot project allows us to work with our restaurateurs to quickly and flexibly try out how we can improve the guest experience with Yoordi," explains Daniel Gemander, the relevant manager at Fraport AG. The concept will initially be tested in Terminal 1 at Pier A.

Jörg Wasmeier and Elisa Chiarelli founded the start-up Yoordi in 2018 after they were frustrated by the long waiting times in restaurants during their vacation in Thailand and saw the frustration on the part of both waiters and customers. According to the start-up, the aim of Yoordi's service is to enable restaurateurs to integrate simple, contactless ordering into their business.
