Frankfurt Airport launches pilot project with Yoordi

Frankfurt Airport is testing a new concept for its food service with Zurich-based start-up Yoordi. The idea originally comes from Thailand.

The Swiss start-up Yoordi was able to win over Frankfurt Airport for a pilot project. The idea: customers can read through the menu at their leisure after scanning a code, order their food without registering as well as pay for it and then pick it up from the associated food provider.

"The pilot project allows us, in cooperation with our restaurateurs, to quickly and flexibly try out how we can improve the guest experience with Yoordi," explains Fraport AG's associated manager Daniel Gemander. Initially, the concept will be tested in Terminal 1 at Pier A.

The start-up Yoordi was founded in 2018 by Jörg Wasmeier and Elisa Chiarelli after they became frustrated with the long waiting times in restaurants during their holiday in Thailand and saw the frustration on the part of both waiters and customers. With Yoordi's offering, restaurateurs should integrate easy and contactless ordering into their business, according to the startup.
