Getsafe presents business figures

The insurtech now has 300,000 customers. This year, the Heidelberg-based company plans to expand into other markets and broaden its product range.
Insurtech Getsafe has presented its business figures for 2021. The neo-insurer now has 300,000 customers and 350,000 active policies, explains CEO Christian Wiens. "Last year was a turning point. We proved the robustness of the business model and are growing faster than expected in Germany and abroad," he says.
Getsafe conveniently offers its insurance policies via smartphone app. Last year, the Heidelberg-based company finally got its own insurance license, and also raised 55 million euros in a Series B financing round. The start-up also expanded its offering to include life insurance.
2022 is now to be marked by international expansion. Getsafe has already filed with the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) to expand its operations to markets in France, Italy and Austria. "Thanks to our platform, we are able to enter a new market within a few months," says Wiens, who co-founded the startup in 2015. In the United Kingdom, where the insurtech is already active, it plans to add homeowners insurance to its portfolio in April. In Germany, Wiens says the company also plans to move into health and retirement plans this year.
