Getsafe presents business figures

The insurtech now has 300,000 customers. This year, the Heidelberg-based company plans to expand into further markets and extend its product range.
Insurtech Getsafe has presented its business figures for 2021. The neo-insurer now has 300,000 customers and 350,000 active policies, explains CEO Christian Wiens. "Last year was a turning point. We have proven the robustness of our business model and are growing faster than expected in Germany and abroad," he says.
Getsafe offers its insurance policies conveniently via smartphone app. Last year, the Heidelberg-based company finally received its own insurance license and also raised 55 million euros in a Series B financing round. The start-up also expanded its offering to include life insurance.
The focus for 2022 will now be on international expansion. Getsafe has already registered the expansion of its business activities to the markets in France, Italy and Austria with the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). "Thanks to our platform, we are in a position to enter a new market within a few months," says Wiens, who co-founded the start-up in 2015. In the UK, where the insurtech is already active, a home insurance product is to be added to the portfolio in April. In Germany, Wiens says the company is also planning to enter the health and pension sectors this year.
