Hesse presents e-health award for the first time

In two categories, three projects won the E-health Award, which is endowed with 10,000 euros each. The winners are dedicated to the monitoring of operations, obesity during pregnancy and individual medication administration.

On Thursday, the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs presented the E-Health Award for the first time. In the category "Innovative Start-up", the jury of experts was equally convinced by two ideas: the project "Psychological support for obesity during pregnancy" by Mentalstark and the "Patronus Prehab App". The latter accompanies patients before and after an operation through interval training, so that they can prepare themselves "physically, psychologically and nutritionally optimally for the operation", as Andreas Schnitzbauer, Managing Director of Patronus Health GmbH, explains.

The programme during pregnancy for women with obesity offers online groups, information and individual counselling as a modular system: "With my team of psychologists, we provide these women with advice and support - via telemedicine from the comfort of their sofa at home," says Sally Schulz, founder of Mentalstark, about her programme.

Gims.pharma, a digitalized system for the individual administration of medicines, won the second category "Example of care with high patient benefit". This is because undesirable side effects or poor efficacy when taking medicines cost the German healthcare system more than one billion euros a year, and the "tailored drug therapy" is intended to counteract this, as the ministry writes in its statement.

The winning projects each receive 10,000 euros, and the jury consisted of representatives from business, research and politics in Hesse. The award ceremony took place during the E-Health Congress Hessen in Frankfurt am Main. Originally, only one winner per category was planned.
