Beteiligungs-Managementgesellschaft Hessen (BM H) is bolstering the expansion of FIB Frankfurt International Bank AG with fresh growth capital. Through the Hessen Kapital I fund it manages, the state investment company is providing five million euros in the form of a silent partnership.

The financing is being provided through Global Heart Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH, which is injecting the capital into FIB Frankfurt International Bank. The goal is to strengthen the bank’s equity base and enable the further expansion of its business model.

Financing for Export-Oriented Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises

FIB Frankfurt International Bank specializes in international export financing. Its focus is particularly on government-guaranteed export credits (Hermes- or ECA-covered buyer credits), which are used primarily to finance small and medium-sized export transactions.

In doing so, the bank serves a market segment that is crucial for many small and medium-sized enterprises but is often addressed only to a limited extent by traditional banks. In addition, FIB, together with partners, offers digital escrow accounts for international students and skilled workers.

Equity Capital Creates Room for Further Growth

The fresh capital is primarily intended to strengthen the bank’s regulatory capital base. This gives FIB additional leeway to expand its offerings in the area of structured export financing and to tap into new business areas. According to the company, more than 70,000 escrow accounts were opened in the first 18 months of operations. At the same time, the bank processed financing requests totaling approximately 1.5 billion euros.

Management views the high demand as confirmation of its specialization in niche markets. In the future, additional digital financial services are to be introduced that will meaningfully complement the existing business model.

Hesse Strengthens Frankfurt as a Financial Center

For BM H, this investment aligns both with the economic policy direction of the state of Hesse and with Frankfurt’s role as an international financial center. With its specialization in export financing, digital processes, and a clearly defined market segment, FIB supports small and medium-sized enterprises in particular in successfully conducting international business.

The financing is provided through Hessen Kapital I, a fund designed to support young, innovative, and growth-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises in Hesse. The silent partnership strengthens the company’s equity capital without altering its ownership structure.

With this financing, Hesse once again underscores the importance of specialized financing providers for export-oriented SMEs, especially in an economic environment where access to capital is increasingly decisive for international competitiveness.
