AI employees for the energy transition receive 1.7 million euros - Invertix

Invertix raises 1.7 million euros for autonomous AI agents in the energy sector. The start-up already manages more than 1.8 GW of solar capacity with AI employees.

The Munich-based ClimateTech start-up Invertix has closed a pre-seed financing round of 1.7 million euros. The round was led by Vireo Ventures. The Italian Founders Fund and several business angels from the energy and artificial intelligence sectors also participated.

Founded in 2026, the company develops autonomous AI agents for the renewable energy industry. The so-called AI employees take on operational, analytical and regulatory tasks that were previously mainly performed manually.

More than 1.8 gigawatts of solar capacity already in use

According to the start-up, Invertix already manages more than 1.8 gigawatts of solar capacity with the help of its AI agents. In addition, the current commercial pipeline includes projects with a total of more than 10 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity.

This makes the company the first provider in the world to deploy autonomous AI agents on this scale in the renewable energy sector.

Shortage of skilled workers is slowing down the energy transition

According to Invertix, the business idea was developed on the basis of more than 5,000 discussions with energy operators, asset managers and independent power producers in Europe, which the founders claim to have held. Even if the technical discussions in the form of short interviews only lasted 15-30 minutes, this would require an enormous amount of time and language.

As a result of these discussions, the founders recognize that the expansion of solar, wind and storage projects is progressing faster than the recruitment and training of qualified specialists. As a result, operational tasks such as alarm evaluation, performance analysis, maintenance coordination or regulatory compliance are increasingly falling by the wayside.

Europe is commissioning solar, wind and storage plants faster than it can recruit and train engineers. Qualified operating personnel are in short supply and the workload for the teams is constantly growing.

Joseph Perrotta, Co-Founder & CEO Invertix

CEO Joseph Perrotta emphasizes that AI agents are not intended to replace employees, but to alleviate operational bottlenecks so that specialists can focus on complex decisions.

AI agents instead of traditional dashboard software

In contrast to conventional monitoring and analysis platforms, Invertix relies on autonomous systems that perform operational tasks independently. The platform integrates directly into existing SCADA, CMMS, ERP, weather and energy data systems. Full implementation should be possible within around 60 days.

Invertix plans to use the fresh capital to expand its platform and enter further markets in Europe. In addition to solar systems, the AI agents will also be used in wind energy, battery storage and grid operation infrastructures in the future. The company is also expanding its teams in the areas of AI engineering, software development, product and sales. The majority of the new jobs will be created in Italy, where Invertix is establishing its technical center.

Investors see strategic importance for Europe's energy infrastructure

The investors see great potential in the combination of the energy transition, shortage of skilled workers and AI automation.

Invertix is tackling this challenge with a team that is hungry, ambitious and consistently focused on customer benefits and is already delivering the first tangible results. This is precisely why we have invested.

Felix Krause, Managing Partner at Vireo Ventures

Felix Krause emphasizes that the energy sector needs more than classic software optimization. At the same time, Irene Mingozzi emphasizes the increasing geopolitical and economic importance of efficient energy infrastructures. With its approach, Invertix is positioning itself at the interface of AI automation and renewable energy infrastructure.
