Kranus Health raises $6.5 million

The healthtech made a good market launch in January with its Edera app. The start-up intends to invest the capital from the new financing round in further digital therapies for men's diseases.
Kranus Health has closed a Series A financing round in the amount of 6.5 million US dollars. French investor Karista led the round, with the Austrian family office Peak Pride and existing investors High-Tech Gründerfonds and A Round Capital also participating. Further capital came from Saarbrücker21, Amboss co-founder Ehsan Khaljani and Atai Life Sciences founder and managing director Florian Brand. The financing round increased the healthtech's total valuation to eight million US dollars.
Kranus Health specializes in digital men's health. In January, the start-up launched the "Edera" app, which helps men to treat erectile dysfunction. The app is recognized as a digital health application and approved as a fully reimbursable therapy by the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices. Edera offers a personalized twelve-week plan that combines pelvic floor training with cardiovascular exercises, sex therapy and mindfulness exercises. Former head of urology at Berlin's Charité hospital Kurt Miller founded the start-up together with Jens Nörtershäuser and Thilo Kleinschmidt.
"We are investing the money in expanding sales in Germany in order to reach as many patients as possible with our therapy, in research in the field of male tech and in the development of further therapies for men's sexual health," says Kranus Health founder and CEO Nörtershäuser. Plans include a study on the effectiveness of the Edera app at Münster University Hospital. The start-up also wants to double the number of employees by the end of the year.
