MAIA Receives 4 Million Euros for an AI Platform to Harness Technical Corporate Knowledge

The Leipzig-based AI startup MAIA (Prodlane GmbH) has closed a funding round totaling four million euros. The round is once again led by the Technology Startup Fund of Saxony (TGFS). For the first time, SBG – Sächsische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH is also participating through the Innovation Capital Saxony (RIG) program.

With this fresh capital, the company plans to expand its development, sales, and marketing teams and accelerate its expansion throughout the DACH region.

AI for the Most Valuable Asset of Many Industrial Companies

While companies are increasingly relying on artificial intelligence, one problem often remains unresolved: the technical knowledge built up over the years is scattered across manuals, test reports, design documents, standards, drawings, and various IT systems. This is exactly where MAIA comes in.

The platform taps into these data sources, understands technical documents within their respective technical contexts, and provides employees with clear, actionable answers within seconds. Unlike traditional AI assistants, MAIA takes into account document structures, metadata, and connections between different information sources, and verifies each answer against its source documents.

As a result, the solution particularly helps development, engineering, and maintenance teams make well-informed decisions more quickly and ensure that valuable experiential knowledge remains permanently available within the company.

Skilled Labor Shortage Increases the Need for Action

As the shortage of skilled workers intensifies, many industrial companies are increasingly concerned that knowledge built up over decades will be lost when employees leave the company. MAIA aims to systematically digitize this know-how and make it accessible to all employees.

Capital Flows into Growth and Market Expansion

The four million euros will now be invested primarily in the further development of the platform and the expansion of sales and marketing activities. The goal is to further establish MAIA as an AI solution for technical knowledge management in German-speaking countries. With this follow-on financing, TGFS and SBG are underscoring their confidence in the Leipzig-based company, which specializes in one of the most important current use cases for generative AI in industry.
