The Potsdam-based HR tech startup PLACED (Getplaced) has completed its first institutional funding round, bringing its total funding to approximately 1.8 million euros. Investors include Brandenburg Kapital, Ventic Ventures, Angel Invest, and other venture capital firms as well as business angels. The company is developing an AI platform that helps recruiters identify suitable employers for their candidates and automate the process of reaching out to clients. In the long term, the technology is even expected to be able to predict companies’ staffing needs before corresponding job openings are posted.

First Institutional Funding Round Completed

PLACED has secured several venture capital investors and business angels in its first institutional funding round. The investor group includes Brandenburg Kapital, the investment arm of the Investment Bank of the State of Brandenburg (ILB); Ventic Ventures; Angel Invest; True Growth; Superangels; WorkTech Angels; and the Business Angel Club by Board Academy. In addition, other business angels with experience in the fields of artificial intelligence and recruitment are participating. With the completion of this round, the startup’s total funding to date amounts to approximately 1.8 million euros. The press release does not specify how much capital was raised exclusively in the current round. The funds are to be used for the further development of the AI platform, the expansion of the underlying data technology, and the strengthening of sales.

Recruiters Need to Identify Employers Faster

PLACED addresses a market in which the successful placement of candidates depends heavily on up-to-date information and timing. According to the company, there are more than 30,000 recruitment and staffing agencies in Europe.

It is crucial that talent and companies connect at the right time. When AI automates the search and placement process, more placement opportunities arise and the labor market becomes more efficient.

Kai Künne, co-founder and CEO of PLACED

.They must not only find suitable candidates but also identify companies where their skills and career aspirations are in demand. A major problem is that publicly advertised job openings represent only a fraction of actual staffing needs. For example, companies may already be planning new projects, location expansions, or organizational changes before corresponding job postings appear. PLACED therefore aims to provide recruiters with a more comprehensive overview of the demand for specific qualifications.

Billions of Data Points Form the Basis of the AI Platform

The technological foundation is a data platform that collects and structures publicly available information about the labor market. According to the company, PLACED processes billions of data points on job profiles, qualification requirements, salaries, and benefits. This information is intended to reveal patterns that provide insights into the demand for specific occupational groups and skills. Recruiters can use this data to identify suitable companies for existing candidates. The platform is not intended to respond exclusively to specific job postings but rather to consolidate various market signals. In doing so, PLACED pursues a data-driven approach to what is known as “candidate outreach”—that is, the targeted placement of existing talent with potential employers.

AI Agents Automate Research and Outreach

In addition to data technology, PLACED offers a software solution for recruiters’ day-to-day operations. Specialized AI agents assist in researching companies, identifying suitable contacts, and preparing or automating outreach to potential employers. Other parts of the placement process are also intended to be handled with software support. The goal is to reduce repetitive sales tasks and increase the speed of placements. This should give recruiters more time for personal consulting, preparing candidates, and providing individualized support to employers. Co-founder and Managing Director Kai Künne sees the main challenge as bringing candidates and companies together at the right time. Automation is intended to complement personal consulting and open up additional opportunities for recruiters.

In the future, AI will predict staffing needs

A central component of further product development is a planned forecasting feature that PLACED refers to as the “Prediction Layer.” This feature is designed to derive insights into companies’ future staffing needs from the collected labor market data. This includes, for example, determining what qualifications an employer is likely to need in the coming months. Recruiters could thus offer suitable candidates even before a specific job posting is published. The technology is intended to facilitate a shift from reactive hiring to a more proactive recruitment approach. According to the company, the forecasting functions are still under development. No specific results regarding prediction accuracy or previously successfully forecasted staffing needs have been disclosed yet.

First Clients from the Recruitment Industry

PLACED reports that it has already secured several clients in the German recruitment industry. Among them is Franke + Pahl Fachkräfte GmbH, whose managing director, Lars Poslednik, highlights the integration of market signals, candidate profiles, company contacts, and AI agents. The platform is designed to offer recruiters a shared working environment for data-driven research and automated sales processes. The startup does not provide specific details on the number of paying customers, revenue, or the number of candidates successfully placed. In addition to traditional recruiters, the data technology is also aimed at other companies. Potential customer groups include AI-based staffing providers, job boards, HR tech companies, and media companies that can use labor market information for their own products or services.

Brandenburg Kapital Supports Further Growth

Brandenburg Kapital, a public venture capital investor, is also participating in the financing. The company is part of the Investment Bank of the State of Brandenburg and invests in technology-oriented companies in the region. Investment manager Markus Barnickel sees PLACED as an example of specialized AI applications that automate an economically significant business process within an industry. Guido Happe, CEO of the Board Academy, is also participating through the Business Angel Club by Board Academy. According to his own statements, he intends to additionally support the company as a member of its advisory board. With the new capital, PLACED can further develop both its AI agents and the underlying labor market database. Crucial to the company’s future development will be whether the platform measurably accelerates its clients’ recruitment processes and whether the planned forecasting functions provide reliable insights into future staffing needs. PLACED is thus positioning itself at the intersection of HR tech, labor market data, and specialized AI automation.
